Spotlight: Social Behaviour in Public Housing Estates

Source: http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10297p.nsf/ImageView/BE_CONSIDERATE_TO_YOUR_NEIGHBOURS/$file/Be+Considerate+to+Your+Neighbours.jpg From the top floor of a HDB flat, a resident's wet laundry drips. Directly below it, another set of laundry gets more soaked due to this dripping. This sparks off a chain reaction and the residents of that HDB flat are unhappy.

Bad social behaviour in the HDB heartland is seen to have risen and constitutes bad habis such as letting one's wet laundry drip or even sweeping one's trash out the door into the corridors.

The Workgroup on Promoting Beter Social Behaviour in Public Estates has been set up due to this lack of social consciousness, to "look at all types of reasons that may cause conflict between neighbours and see how to reduce it” (Senior Minister of State for National Development and Education Grace Fu).
